どこかに「入る」動作は大概、“enter” と言う動詞で表現出来る。
ところが、この動詞の名詞形には “entrance” と “entry” とがあり、
微妙にニュアンスが違う。

 
“Entrance” は「入口」を指す場合に一番多く使われる。
 
だが、“entrance” はどこかに「入る動作」も指す。
そして、それは “entry” も同じ。では、この2つはどこがどう違うのか?

 
“Entrance” は実際に人が歩いて入って行くような動作を指す。

→ The star made a grand entrance into the party.
→ My entrance into the room somehow scared my cats.

“Entry” も入る動作ではあるものの、実際に人が歩いて入って行くような動作は指さない。

→ A visa permits entry into the country.
→ I can make my entry into the concert with this ticket!

わかるようで、わかりにくい!!
